How Restaurants Are Rated

All restaurants are reviewed based on a five fork scale– one fork being the lowest score, and five fork being the highest score. Each category listed below can be rated from one to five forks. The total average score is the final score for that restaurant. Each review offers details on why the establishment received the score for each category.

Accessibility

Accessibility rating is based on the ease of finding the restaurant location, finding parking (valet, street, parking lot, metered, etc.). This rating also takes into account ADA compliance, although not based on legal requirements– simply based on personal observation.

Food & Beverage Quality

Food and Beverage Quality rating is based on the preparation, presentation, and taste of the food and beverages. Preparation can account for how the meal is cooked – using certain methods of food preparation, such as classical or modern, gastronomy, etc. Presentation accounts for the over-all presentation of the meal, from the plate preparation/design to how the plate or glass is presented and placed at the table. Taste accounts for the deliciousness of the items prepared.

Service & Experience

Service and Experience accounts for the over-all experience provided throughout the duration of the visit, from the moment walking in the door, to the final exit. This includes friendliness of host, wait staff, etc. The experience will account for the level of the experience in terms of providing a memorable moment (celebration of special occasion, etc.), desire to return again, and whether the restaurant would be recommended to others.

Atmosphere & Ambiance

Atmosphere and Ambiance will consider the restaurant vibes, noting whether the restaurant is more suitable for adults only, a romantic date, a pre-show dinner, or a classy cocktail. The atmosphere of an establishment can have weighted influence on one’s experience and expectations. Often the ambiance can set the tone for the entire experience.

Pricing & Value

Pricing and Value will explain the cost of the restaurant. This is often portrayed in dollar signs on other review sites. Here, the fork icon will represent the cost, with one fork being low and five forks being high. The value will also be represented in number of forks – five indicating high value for the cost.

About the Reviewer

Me Profile Pic

Everyone calls me Miss Foodie because they know I love food! Friends and family often ask me for restaurant recommendations and have commented on my Instagram posts about how they love seeing my culinary adventures, so I decided to create a separate page just for food reviews.

I’ve had a full plate over the last two years, so starting this page to blog about my

foodie-ventures was a goal for myself in 2023. From 2000- 2022 I worked on obtaining my Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership from the University of La Verne, in CA. I also have a B.A. in Journalism, which was fueled by my love and passion for writing.

This blog allows me to combine my love for writing with my love for finding great places to eat and enjoying fine food!
